Soap nuts are both Ecological and Economical when compared to other forms of detergents
A brief on the Benefits of using soapnuts:
• Clearly cheaper than normal detergents.
• Environment friendly as soapnuts are 100% natural, they do not pollute our environment. Furthermore, soapnuts are considered renewable primary products. The soapnut trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.
• Perfect for allergic persons, people with sensitive skin and people who suffer from neurodermatitis.
• Effective and gentle as Soapnuts clean dirty laundry very effectively and at the same time preserve the colour of your laundry better than chemical detergents. In Nepal, people wash even the finest silks using soapnuts.
• 100% biodegradable. Simply add the used soapnuts directly to your compost heap
Directions for laundry use: For warm and hot water Put 5-6 shells or equivalent pieces in wash bag and tie securley. Toss in washing machine before adding clothes. Then remove wash bag at end of wash and let bag air dry. (leave nuts in bag to dry) For extra brightness or to take out very strong odors (like what Oxyclean would do) add a few tablespoons of Celtic Sea Salt to the laundry! For cold water use: Place wash bag in pot of hot water. Leave for 3 minutes, pour water and bag in wash. Reuse bag 5 to 6 times. Soap nuts are no longer effective when they are soft, mushy and gray in color and or become very thin.
Will my clothes smell like the vinegary of soap nuts? No. Soap nuts dry have a vinegary smell. When washed amazingly your laundry will smell completely clean.
Should I remove soap nuts during the wash cycle? No, because soap nuts do not leave a soapy residue. Any remaining soap adds softness and body to your clean laundry.
Will soap nuts produce soapy bubbles? The amount of bubbles in any soap has no bearing on its cleaning power. Foaming agents are added to commercial soap to fool the consumer to think its a superior product. Unlike commercial laundry soaps soap nuts contain NO CHEMICAL sudsing agents. This is why soap nuts are EXCELLENT for HE washing machines!
Having trouble untying the bag after it comes out of the machine? Dry the washbag out REALLY well (till its bone dry) and then it will be easy to untie and retie.
