Castile soap is an incredibly gentle liquid soap that is made with 100% Italian Olive Oil. The origin of Castile soap goes back centuries to the region of Spain called Castilla. Olive Oil acts as a humectant by attracting and holding water to the skin to form a breathable film that retains internal moisture. This soap contains no fragrance or other scent. It has an undisputed worldwide reputation for its mildness and suitability for sensitive skin; it is was often used to launder antique lace and linen.

Why would Castile soap burn my eyes? Castile soap is still soap even though it does not have harsh chemicals. If you look at the ingredients on any baby shampoo they use a numbing agent that numbs the eyes incase the shampoo gets into the eyes.
